The book is gradually moving toward obsolescence, but only because other C/A Cichlid surveys have the advantage of being written at a time when discovery of these fish is at an all-time high. It is one of the best affordable surveys of C/A Cichlids and their care and should be treated as such. Almost every common aquarium denizen from this group is covered by his masterpiece. He admits that this is but a survey during the species description chapters...it should only be read with that in mind, but, if you are a newbie to Cichlids and you have a commonly-kept C/A Cichlid, this is the book for you.
